Two awards in the amount of $500 each will be given to recognize and provide support to fund the honors thesis research of an outstanding University of Massachusetts Amherst undergraduate student focused on family issues.

Eligibility

Senior undergraduate student in good standing whose honors thesis research or capstone experience is related to family research.

The Award

The recipients will be required to attend one roundtable at the Center for Research on Families in April to briefly present the thesis topic to other student award recipients. The student will also be invited to CRF’s awards lunch in early May 2013. Awards are processed through the UMass Financial Aid Office and posted to student’s university account. Any positive balances for seniors are issued as a check by the Bursar’s Office.

Submit all application materials listed below:

1. Complete the application form.
2. One letter of recommendation from a professor familiar with your honors research or capstone experience.
3. A brief essay addressing the following (not to exceed 4 pages/double spaced): statement of interest with any past research in the field of family studies; your proposed honors thesis and research project with objectives and methodology; and how your academic/career interests relate to this research .

Applications are due February 22, 2013 by 5 p.m. 

Selection

Applications will be reviewed and recipients selected by a committee convened by CRF. The awards will be announced on March 8, 2013.
