Travel Award

Spring Travel Award:  One award of $300 will be given to a UMass Amherst graduate student who is presenting original research at a national research conference before August 31, 2015.* The student must be first author on an accepted poster or paper presentation at the conference and the award money will be used exclusively for travel expenses associated with the conference.

Graduate student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst who is actively enrolled in a full time graduate program related to family research.

The Award

The recipients will be invited to attend a roundtable session in the spring at the Center for Research on Families to briefly present the conference paper topic to other student award recipients. 

To Apply 

Please include the following:

  1. Personal and academic contact information on completed application form.
  2. Information on the location and focus of the conference (e.g. attachment or link to conference itinerary)
  3. Abstract of the accepted poster or paper at the conference (not to exceed 1 page single-spaced).
  4. Letter of recommendation from a faculty member on the applicant's research team.  You may upload the letter to the webform, or chose to email the letter confidentially to (preferred).


Applications are due February 27, 2015 by 5 p.m. Conference travel must be completed by August 31, 2015
