Melissa Hodges is a graduate student in the Sociology department at Umass Amherst. Her research focuses on gender and race income inequality and work and family policy. Her current research investigates the relationship between first-time fatherhood and earnings. For this Fellowship, she and her faculty mentor, CRF Scholar and Professor Michelle Budig, will examine the relationships between work-family policies and gender differences in self-employment participation and earnings.
