The UMass Amherst Family Business Center assists family companies to recognize common problems and find solutions to their unique challenges. The Center offers owners and managers a comprehensive learning community, including presentations by experts from the fields of psychology, management, law, accounting, financial and estate planning, and banking.
Learn to run your company more professionally, develop policies and procedures based on the best practices of successful colleagues, improve your communication and strategizing skills, and increase both the satisfaction and the bottom line in your family owned business. You will also hear from the greatest experts in the field --family business members themselves, revealing to you the many struggles and failures, as well as the joys and successes they have experienced. You'll be amazed how much you can learn from companies who might be in a completely different industry or stage of business life.
You'll appreciate a sense of normalcy and camaraderie from this adult education and networking (and while there are no "right answers" that fit everyone, you'll learn enough and think things through enough to come up with solutions that are right for you). Through our series of well-catered dinner forums and roundtable discussions, the center offers a confidential and intimate environment for airing and sharing among the membership. Reach out and broaden your professional and social horizons in the comfort of a built-in community of colleagues who can be counted on for support and continuing dialogue.
