Hawaiian Dance and a Tropical Party at the FAC

The sacred art of Hawaiian Hula has remained relatively unknown to mainland Americans interested in ethnic music and dance. But it needn't be unknown any longer! For the first time, the beauty and complexity of Hawaiian dance, music and chant comes to the Pioneer Valley when the Asian Dance and Music Program presents Halau Hula Ka No'eau Sunday February 4 at 3pm. in Bowker Auditorium. Halau Hula Ka No'eau is one of Hawaii's only professional dance companies and is noted for their innovative presentation of Hawaiian dance. Based on traditional Hawaiian legends, myths, chants, and stories, Halau Hula Ka No'eau has emerged as a voice for young Hawaiian choreographers, poets, chanters and musicians.

Immediately following the performance join the company for a Hula party on the tenth floor of the Campus Center. Leave winter behind and feast at a fabulous multi-station buffet, hula to the delightful sounds of tropical music, and enjoy a piece of a tropical paradise. A special thank you to University Catering for their support of this special event.

Concert Tickets are $20 & $15 for adults, $10 and $7 for students and children. Hula Party: $20 for adults; $10 for children under 12. Contact the Fine Arts Center Box Office for reservations at 413-545-2511 or 800-999-UMAS.
