Art Basel Miami Beach
Insider Tour December 6-9, 2007

You are cordially invited to join University Gallery director, Loretta Yarlow, and other gallery supporters on a trip to the world class Art Basel Miami Beach Art Fair.
Note: Sign up deadline September 6, 2007

The Fair has become one of the most glamorous and important annual art shows on the contemporary art circuit with top international galleries exhibiting their best works. The city of Miami pulls out all the stops, offering a wide range of museum exhibitions, Art Deco District tours, and thrilling art-related happenings (including film, music, architecture and design) that make these four intensive days lively and stimulating. Loretta Yarlow will be your personal guide and offer exclusive, insightful behind-the-scenes experiences of contemporary art, museums, and private collections.

Arts in Your Inbox
Smaller and More Frequent

Spotlight magazine will now be delivered twice monthly. The first and third Wednesday of the month, your inbox will get fresh happenings and events at the Fine Arts Center. Highlights will be special events, gallery openings & educational opportunities and as always, a clickable centerwide calendar for the next three weeks.
Many of our patrons have asked for more frequent updates. We don't want you to miss events because of day to day distractions. At the Fine Arts Center, we know that taking the time to enrich your life with the arts is sometimes difficult to schedule. Spotlight Magazine, in its smaller more frequent form, can help you keep the arts in your busy life.

Tiempo Libre
Dance Party!

With our students back, filling the campus with their vivacious presence, it is surely time to celebrate. Forget that September means the nights are cooler and the days are getting shorter with a hot Cuban dance party!

Timba music is a contagious blend: with a salsa root, afro-Cuban instruments and topped by funk and fusion based horn arrangements. No worries if you think you can't dance, the music will show you how. Or if you are someone who wants to get the know how, Boricuas Unidos will be offering free salsa lessons at 7pm. Need more coaxing to add it to your calendar? Check out this playful tune.

So kick off our 2007-2008 season with us, while Umass Amherst kicks off the first week of the new school year by kicking it up on the dance floor.

Want to get even happier, did we mention it is free?
Open to UMass students and general public
Thursday, September 6 - Campus Center Auditorium
