Our Mission

New WORLD Theater's mission is to produce and present innovative, contemporary theater by artists of color; to foster creative communities at the intersections of artistic practice, community engagement, scholarship and education; and to promote cultural equity and the vision of a “new world”– one that embraces diverse cultural backgrounds, interdisciplinary approaches, widespread geographic roots, and a commitment to justice.

Our Core Values

• Equity - New WORLD Theater is committed to cultural equity and progressive social change. Through art, we work against racism and oppression in all forms.

• Innovation - We believe in the power of artistic innovation to further cultural ideas, to deepen political consciousness, and to impact society. We believe that innovation includes openness to new and emergent identities, disciplines, approaches, issues and concepts.

• Engagement - We assert that all individuals and communities should have access to the arts, emanating from a profound belief that the experience of art and theater is transformational.

• Impact - New WORLD Theater is committed to sustainable impact, continuity, and renewal. We welcome partnerships, locally and nationally, that increase the positive impact of our creative and artistic work. We strive to transform the national field of the arts, and the cultural landscape of the U.S., through the artists of color whose work we support, nurture, develop, present, and promote.
