1. How/where did you hear about JAZZ IN JULY?

Important Technical Note: Please do not use quotation marks in this form. "Like These" They crash the text import program.

2. Briefly describe your general musical experience in terms of private instruction, coursework, training in improvisation, and ensemble and solo performances. Limit your answers to two paragraphs.

Audition Requirement

An application to the instrumental and vocal programs requires an audio recording featuring a minimum of two jazz standard selections. Each tune is judged for rhythm, tone, articulation, and interpretation. The applicant's performance is carefully considered, both in the acceptance procedure and in instrumental combo placement. (One submission for two or more applicants will not be accepted.) An audio submission is not required for the teacher training program. Acceptable audio formats include CDs and digital media files via email (.mp3, .wma, and .m4a formats.)

INSTRUMENTALISTS: Please submit a recording including a minimum of TWO jazz standards of contrasting jazz styles and tempos (no ballads, please.) Length of submission should not exceed 10 minutes and should be EDITED to include only the intro, the melody and your solos. Please identify your instrument on the CD cover (saxophone players should also identify the particular sax used in the recording.)

VOCALISTS: Please submit a recording including a minimum of TWO jazz standards of contrasting jazz styles and tempos (please include a fast or moderately-fast tempo and a slow tempo or ballad.) Length of submission should not exceed 10 minutes.

NOTE: We do our best to keep up with incoming auditions, but our inbox space is limited so if you recieve a message stating that the mail was not delivered WAIT three days and send the audition again. Also, please try to keep audition files under 5 megs.

Registration Fee

A registration fee of $75 is required for applications prior to March 21, $100 after March 21.
