NON-ACADEMIC SPACES ON CAMPUSNon-academic spaces are generally easier to reserve for your events, since there are no classes meeting in them on a regular basis. Some of the non-academic spaces (notably, Blue Wall, Campus Center 1009, Market Place Cafe and Top of Campus) are primarily eating establishments, and may be used for catered events. Memorial Hall offers a spacious rectangular room that is often used for literary readings and lectures when not in use by the Alumni Association. It seats 150-175, depending upon the arrangement of folding chairs in the space. There is no stage lighting or sound equipment, so this space is primarily suited to literary events. The Top of Campus (TOC) is a small multi-use auditorium. It is used primarily as a meeting/dining facility, but under special arrangements, this space can be booked for a fee if there is to be no catered food service. The Center has a small parking lot that can accommodate approximately 10 cars. Bartlett Auditorium used to be a main performance space on campus before the Fine Arts Center was constructed. It has since been renovated, and the theatrical lighting and sound equipment was removed at that time, though the Proscenium-style stage and curtain still remain. This 335-seat Auditorium is air conditioned and equipped with sound equipment suitable for lectures. There is a projection booth with two 16 mm projectors and a 35 mm slide projector, though permission (and a key!) must be obtained to use this equipment. The depth of the stage is limited and there are no wings, so the Auditorium can accommodate simply staged events, such as concerts, film screenings and literary readings. The steep slope of the ramps makes them difficult to navigate with a wheelchair, and there are no nearby accessible toilets (the nearest ones are in the Student Union Building). All are equipped with assisted listening devices. Thompson Hall has three recently-renovated auditoriums that are suitable for a number of artistic events. Rooms #102 and #106 each have a seating capacity of 232, and the larger auditorium #104 seats 306. All three are equipped with 16mm projectors and an array of audio-visual equipment, including wireless microphones, slide projectors, DVD/VCR units and other equipment. Room #102 has upholstered seats, and the two smaller auditoriums have molded plastic chairs. Each auditorium has a large, fixed unit at the front of the room that serves as a podium and control center for sound, lights and other equipment. All the spaces are air conditioned.
