Daily Hampshire Gazette - Established 1786

The Daily Hampshire Gazette is an information company producing a daily newspaper, as well as weekly news, entertainment, and specialty products in print and online to serve the information needs of Hampshire County. The daily paper is online at www.gazettenet.com . The Amherst Bulletin/amherstbulletin.com, is a weekly community newspaper, and web site serving Amherst and surrounding towns. The web site pioneervalley.com is a destination place for entertainment, calendar, and business information for the greater Pioneer Valley.

The Gazette, continuously published since September 6 th, 1786, was purchased by the DeRose family in 1929. At that time, Harriet DeRose became one of the first women publishers in America. In 2006, Newspapers of New England, Inc. acquired the Gazette. The families of NNE and the DeRose family had known each other for decades. Their shared view of community journalism made the sale a natural fit.

The origin of Newspapers of New England dates back to 1888 with William Dwight's purchase of the Holyoke Transcript. Today, NNE publishes newspapers in Lebanon/Hanover, Concord, and Peterborough, New Hampshire, as well as Greenfield, Northampton and Amherst, Massachusetts. In January 2008, NNE purchased the weekly Valley Advocate, and valleyadvocate.com, which both serve the entire Pioneer Valley. The NNE publishing company is also a leader in commercial printing, offering high quality work to New England publishers.

Newspapers of New England is dedicated to winning the regard and loyalty of their readers through distinguished and impartial journalism and faithful service to the local community.
