Come join the UMASS Fine Arts Center, the Valley Advocate and Apple Computer at the Culture Vulture Club

 

Come mix great art with the company of other adventurous art lovers, cocktails, delicious appetizers, and a soundtrack by the region's best DJs. Sometimes the artists you've just watched on-stage join in the party as well. Joining the Culture Vultures in the fastest way to enjoy great events featuring world-renowned artists who are on or near the cutting edge of the performing arts scene.

Here's what you do:

•  Buy at least one Culture Vulture event or subscribe to all three and save 15% and enter the drawing for a free iPod. Be sure to mention that you want to join the club.

•  With your ticket you'll get a code to text message to the Valley Advocate to join the Culture Vulture VIP list.

•  On the night of the performance you'll receive a text message confirming your attendance and the location of the pre or post-show party.

An exciting new fusion of Persian and Indian influenced music with modern electronics

Niyaz (in collaboration with the Asian Arts & Culture Program)

Friday, November 3 at 8pm

The group performs the Farsi poetry of 13th century Sufi mystic Rumi and ancient Indian Urdu poetry to a hypnotic, ecstatic, and eminently danceable beat. Niyaz represents the best of both traditional world music and electronic music.

DBR & THE MISSION

Thursday, February 15 at 7:30pm
A seamless blend of funk, rock, hip-hop and classical music from an amplified string quartet, DJ, keyboards, bass, drums and laptops. DBR is a classical-urban ambassador for the iPod generation.

Stephen Petronio Dance Company

Thursday, April 12 at 7:30pm
Petronio showcases a sharp, mean movement style and his company of dancers meets the challenge of his movement with boundless energy and fearlessness. The company performs Bloom, with music by singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, who wrote the choral score for the piece drawing on the poetry of Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson.
