Art for a Change
At the Fine Arts Center we believe in being good stewards of our environment and our communities. That is why we have implemented green practices within the Center and give back to the many communities and non-profits organizations in the Valley.
For a Greener Planet : the Fine Arts Center is going a lot greener with the printing of marketing materials on FSC certified paper with soy and vegetable based inks whenever possible. We also take that practice into our offices, galleries and stages with recycling and less wasteful use of business products. We also provide links to are businesses who practice sustainability and offer green alternatives to business as usual.
The Arts Give Back: Last season we instituted this campaign where we asked patrons, when coming to a performance, to bring gently uses clothing, food, toys and other items for area non-profit organizations that help those in need. It was a huge success so we plan to continue this coming year and as long as there are people in need. This season, the arts are giving back to Dress For Success, the Western Mass Food Bank, the Northampton and Amherst Survival Centers , Dakin Animal Shelter, Jessie's House, and Link to Libraries. Watch for these opportunities noted next to selected events online and in our promotional materials.
Supporting our Community Organizations: While we offer a lot of culturally diverse programs at the Fine Arts Center, we also like to support (sponsor) those arts and cultural groups who provide access to in the communities where they live. We'd like to think of the Fine Arts Center not as bricks and mortar but a living organization that reaches beyond its campus address. That's why we have supported the Festival de Familia Hispana in Holyoke , the Stone Soul Festival in Springfield , Best Buddies of Western Mass, the Student Bridges program, and the celebration of the Spanish American Union's 40th Anniversary Celebration.
