In Conversations: 3 Salons with Art Critic Gloria Russell
Wednesday, March 4, 2009     from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Art often speaks for itself. Many times, however, hearing artists and critics discuss how works relate to the world enhances the experience of vieweing an exhibition. "IN CONVERSATION: 3 SALONS WITH ART CRITIC GLORIA RUSSELL" is a new collaborative initiative sponsored by APEarts, University Gallery, and wunderarts -- offers patrons, artists, and gallery-goers an opportunity to engage in such dialogue in this exciting new series. Inspired by the turn-of-the-century cultural salons popularized in Europe, SALON 08/09 enables experts and members of the public to interact on issues of the day related to the three galleries' current exhibitions. This interactive program is conducted in a relaxed setting that encourages intimate conversation between audience participants and guest speakers. The inaugural series will kick off in the fall and rotate among the three contemporary art venues. Distinguished art critic, Gloria Russell, former critic for The Republican and Art New England, will interview artists whose works are currently on view and invite members of the public to participate in the conversation.
