Amores Perros

With the English translation "Love's a Bitch," this film portrays three interrelated tales of love and betrayal. Linking the triptych of stories are the dogs who play the central roles in their owners' lives, the collective fates of whom become entangled in the danger and passion of Mexico City. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2001, and received a host of other international nominations and awards. (Mexico, 2000; color, 153m) Part of the "At Human Cost" film series presented in conjunction with "The Culture of Violence" exhibit on display at the University Museum of Contemporary Art.
