Undesirable Elements is part of an ongoing series that explores the effects of history, race, and culture on the individual lives in a community. Begun in 1992, Ping Chong & Company has created 19 works in communities throughout the United States, Holland, and Japan as part of Chongšs innovative interview-theater project. Undesirable Elements: Pioneer Valley will focus its developmental and theatrical attention on the Pioneer Valley community, with an emphasis on the rich immigrant history of the region. Culture, community and identity will collide to form a living history on stage, creating a space in which theater and community come together.
