In conjunction with her staging of sash & trim, Obie award-winning playwright, director and performer Laurie Carlos will give a special reading from her newest work, The Pork Chop Wars. This performance-novel explores family, food and the conflicts that arise from those hot-button arenas.

Challenging and uplifting, the piece springs from the reflections of an African-American woman as she reviews a life of art, activism and spirit. An open dialogue with the artist will follow the reading.
