Poetry can be comedic, comedy can be tragic and tragedy can be poetic. The sum? Beauty in a world of contradictions and chaos. Political performance artist D'Lo's hip-hop-based work embraces comedy, music, dance, theater, poetry, audience dialogue, and multimedia as well as the Hindu Tamil traditions of her ancestral Sri Lankan home. In Ramble-ations, D'Lo presents a parade of memorable characters, real and imaginary. Diverse and flawed, funny and poignant, they share their stories stories that reflect the experiences of immigrants, people of color, queers, and other outsiders in America's cultural and political landscape.
