As NWT continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary year, we want to invite you to participate in our extraordinary season that focuses on, celebrates, and contemplates the convergence of community, arts, and activism. Action, movement, storytelling, performance, poetry and directing are all part of NWT's Artist Training Series. The cost is $15.00 per workshop and there are a limited amount of work-study scholarships available. Come for one workshop or attend the whole series. Interview Theater Workshop

7-9pm Northampton Center For the Arts
This hands-on workshop will give participants the chance to learn the basic techniques of Interview Theater. Performers will practice developing a performance monologue from interviews created in the class.

Suzuki Method Workshop

The Suzuki actor's training method is a stylized form of training that focuses on controlling the voice and body through a series of ritualized techniques that are similar to martial arts

Storytelling Workshop

Why tell stories? To enjoy, to share, and to show that we care! Through fun games and exercises, participants will explore a wide range of materials (folk and fairy tales, personal and family stories, and literary sources) and styles of presentation

Performance and Poetry Workshop

April 7th Women, Poetry and Performance: This workshop welcomes women of all ages and experience. Together we will create a safe environment for exploring our individual and collective creativity using theater games, poetry, movement exploration, and improvisational structures.

April 14th Poetry for Performance: This work welcomes the actor in you no matter what your level of experience. In a safe and playful environment that we create together, we will use poetry, theater games, and improvisational techniques to explore the spontaneous creation of collaborative performance.

Directing Workshop

7-9pm APE Gallery, Thornes Market
The directing workshop will consist of hands-on exercises that explore the primary focus of the directors and actors: to discover and share the action of a given text. Workshop participants will need loose fitting clothing, writing materials, and open mind.
