Lydia, a woman, a wife, a mother, a second generation Puerto Rican lives with her daughter on the fourteenth floor of a tenement building in the Bronx. This memory, a brief moment in time recalled through music, movement, projected images, and narration is a tribute to her passion. What is the source of joy that keeps her hopeful, graceful, spirited? Maybe it is found in the blood memory of this native of Loiza, a descendent of enslaved Africans from the northeast coast of Boricua. In her kitchen, in her hips and feet, in her prayers, she teaches her daughter to move through the gray and concrete -to forgive and to conquer - to stay high and lifted up.
