Achingly platonic soul-mates Claudie and Alphine are passionate musicians and longtime best friends. Both struggle with the addiction and sexual trauma that run in their respective family histories. When they each abandon fruitless solo careers in New York, move to Paris and join forces as the sultry singing duo Black Venus, tensions rise as they struggle to redefine their relationship. Will their friendship survive the pressures of their new found success abroad? Lenelle Moïse's "EXPATRIATE" features original live music, dream sequences and scenes which explore memory, black womanhood, friendship, American France, sexual tension, drugs and rock-n-roll.
