Thursday, November 20 Bezanson Recital Hall 8:00 pm $10/$5 The Series concludes with the Dave Douglas/Marcus Rojas Duo. Dave Douglas is widely recognized as one of the most important and original American musicians to emerge from the jazz and improvised music scene of the last decade. As a composer and trumpeter, Douglas’ chops are tops writes Greg Burk in L.A. Weekly. He never gets in a rut, his formats and viewpoints always swinging from intellectual acoustic to tripped-out electronic to the totally unexpected. The late Whitney Balliet called Marcus Rojas a "phenomenal tubist". Harvey Pekar considers him one of "the best all around tuba players in the world". Rojas has a vast performance history, including work with the Metropolitan Opera, Joffrey Ballet, and ensembles led by Gil Evans, Wayne Shorter and David Byrne.
