Admission is free and open to the public. "Ran Blake is so hip it hurts," writes Downbeat. "At 66, he is still a pianist who can make you laugh at his wry humor one second and wring a tear the next." Born in Springfield, MA in 1935, Blake has chaired the Department of Contemporary Improvisation at the New England Conservatory since 1973. Since the release of The Newest Sound Around (1961, Bluebird), Blake has recorded more than 30 albums as a leader for Soul Note, GM and hatOLOGY, among other labels |
