Winner of the 2005 Grammy award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album, the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra is a new leader in the world of jazz. Founded in 1993, the Orchestra performs at jazz festivals and concert halls across the U.S. and Europe, as well as in Brazil and Macau. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Fine Arts Center, we are co-commissioning a new work by Maria Schneider that will be performed at their premiere Center Series concert. This performance is part of a day-long high school jazz festival sponsored by the Fine Arts Center and UMass Department of Music and Dance. Concert Hall at 8pm (Winning high school band performs at 7:25pm)
