![]() Special Program: My Simple Story & Keif al Hal ![]() Wednesday, November 12, 2008 School of Management Room 137 7:00 pm Free and open to the public Director: Izidore Musallam My Simple Story Palestine, 2008 33 minutes Keif al Hal Saudi Arabia, 2006 95 minutes Arab Canadian filmmaker Izidore Musallam and Arab American composer/musician Simon Shaheen speak about the political, social and artistic issues involved in the making of the film, My Simple Story. A Canadian resident of Arabic heritage, Izidore Musallam's groundbreaking cinematic work moves across national boundaries and explores changing identities. Born in Haifa, Israel and educated as a filmmaker at York University, Musallam has the distinction of being the director of Saudi Arabia's first ever feature film, Keif al hal (How's it Going?) Simon Shaheen is one of the most significant Arab musicians, performers, and composers of his generation. His work incorporates and reflects a legacy of Arabic music, while it forges ahead to new frontiers, embracing many different styles in the process. He has contributed selections to soundtracks for The Sheltering Sky and Malcolm X, and composed the entire soundtrack for the United Nations-sponsored documentary, For Everyone Everywhere.
