Since 1993 WOCLN has provided the following tools for women of color in order that they may attain a high degree of self-sufficiency:
To foster self-awareness and personal development;
To apply leadership skills--communicate, organize, inspire, produce, create, mediate, broker, inform, problem-solve;
To enhance personal qualities/traits: practicality, resourcefulness, initiative, innovative, self-directed motivation

At the core of the WOCLN, there lies a fundamental belief that at its best, leadership starts from the inside, out--meaning that women who are internally stable are better positioned to positively affect their external circumstances, and make appropriate choices for their lives and the lives of others.

Through contact with the network women WOCLN becomes a place where women are able to establish connections by interacting with other women of color spanning generations as well as women in the surrounding community.

...a place where you can learn as well as teach... from peers and elders alike.

... a place where women of color are acknowledged for everything they embody.

...a place for self-expression.

...a place where standards and expectations are set toward your greatest potential.

...a place where we're looking for the best that you've got

...a place where your skills are continually redefined and shaped to support you in reaching your highest potential.

...a place to find friendship and connection.

...a place that asks you to open your mind to new ideas, stretch your limits, and contribute what you can and what you know.
