In November, a series of workshops will be given to women of color
focusing on financing. We will learn how to develop financial independence,
the do’s and don’ts of banking, and creating and building
healthy credit. We will also incorporate in our series, a panel
of entrepreneurs and employees who have made working work for them.
As women of color, we need to learn how to budget our finances.
We will discuss topics from smart investments to guilt free shopping.

Talks Sex:
SexTalks- Raunchy, raucous and racy conversations about sex, gender
preference, homophobia and wisdom with you in mind. Facilitated
by senior student staff.

Politikin':
An exploration of what activism is and isn't, and how everyone
can find their place in the social change movements that effect
the present and the future.
Six
and More Reading Club:
A group of Amherst community women, aged 35 plus, gather to read
good books, talk about them and support each other's growth and

Maskmasking:
Take a journey into yourself and discover the myriad and number
of ways we hide from ourselves as well as others, whether for
legitimate protection or outmoded habit. This day-long workshop
(usually scheduled on a Saturday) asks women to explore their
identities thru play, craft and discussion.
Writing
from the Belly:
Utilizes theater games, improvisation and
creative movement to uncover the powerful insights of our inner
voice. Participants will experiment with a variety of writing
techniques and create an anthology of the groups' selected original
works. Led by playwright, performance artist and community activist,
Magdalena Gomez. (3 sessions)
Creating
Internal Balance:
This workshop explores the meanings
of integrity and being intentional in our relationship with ourselves.
We will learn to use the principles of yoga to create a foundation
for self-exploration. Our aim is to introduce you to some simple
postures and techniques that can support you in developing an
internal sense of calm and resolve.
Alternative
Healing:
A series of workshops that attempts
to; heighten the awareness of the connections between various
aspects of participants lives that promote health and well being,
to teach ways of creating and maintaining physical, emotion/mental
and spiritual balance, and devise strategies for preserving and
maintaining good health.
African
Dance and Drumming:
This
workshop focuses on connecting women of color in the community
and women of color in the university. This workshop and its contents
are used as a reminder for participants to learn more about where
they come from. Each participant learns to respect and celebrate
life in all of its stages
Internalizing
Oppression You and the University:
What is oppression and what
are the various ways that oppression shows itself? This module
will explore the many forms of opression and the way they play
roles in the lives of those who are oppressed. It will give examples
of how oppression can be internalized and how one can become aware
of it's effects in the lives of students.
Women of
Color in the Academy Making Your Way
and Having Your Say:
This module will explore the ways in which
women and men of color make the most of their academic careers.
First
Generation Blues How Pioneers Prevail:
Individuals
vs. Group Risk Taking:
Dealing with negotiating the process of
moving from a group voice and identity, to the voice of self and
how to recognize the difference. In addition, the module will
explore the risks involved as one makes the decision to step out
of the group.
Creating
Intentional Relationships Exploring Commitment:
What does it mean to make a commitment to
yourself? Your friends? Your partner? Your professor, parents,
siblings, relatives? This workshop explores the meaning of integrity
and intenionality as it's related to the relationships in our
lives. Our aim is to build awareness of the importance of doing
what you say you're going to do and/or resetting expectations
when necessary.

others? Come find your own rhythm with
midwife and birth educator Terri Nash, who returns for her fourth
year to WOCLN to spread the word and teach the gospel about the
wisdom and wonder of women's bodies.
