DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: -The Massachusetts Student Public Interest Research Group is a state-wide, student directed and funded organization that works on environmental, consumer protection, and democracy issues. -MASSPIRG's mission is to watchdog special interests like big banks, oil companies, and auto companies, to hold our politicians accountable, and to ensure that our interests as citizens are protected. -The PIRGs stand up and speak out for the environment, for consumer protection, for public health and safety. . .for just about any cause that is threatened by private power or governmental indifference. -The organization funnels its creative energies into innovative on-campus programs, connecting the campus community to the community at large. -The PIRGs serve as a link between student activism and professional advocacy. Utilizing a full-time staff of organizers, attorneys and scientists, the PIRGs have fought for the public interest on issues ranging from global warming to getting big money out of politics.
