Program/Service Notes:
The WRC is committed to the exploration and promotion of women's issues. Through educational programs and supportive resources, the Center strives to empower women as they grow and develop. The Center is a resource open to all Boston College women and men who are concerned with women's issues. It offers a supportive environment where all perspectives and opinions can be voiced and respected. The success depends on the cooperation and participation of the entire Boston College community. Services/Resources: -Educational Outreach: lunches, peer support groups, poetry readings, film series, etc. -Lending library with over 1700 volumes by women and men on a wide range of subjects including career, health, literature, psychology and much more. Many of the books cannot be found in other Boston College libraries and my be useful for reference, paper writing or just general interest. -Files containing articles and papers that pertain to women's issues. Additionally, subscriptions to a number of periodicals including Ms., Life, Newsweek, Sojourner, and a number of newsletters on various topics are available. Media images, women's research, battered and homeless women, spirituality and religion, abortion, ecofeminism, sexual assault and lesbian and gay issues are included. -The WRC keeps a current file of various organization and service available on campus and in the Boston area. These include: Counseling (eating disorder, sexual abuse, alcohol), Women's Shelters (homeless and battered women), Health (GYN, birth control, general), Career and Personal Counseling, Women's Organizations, Hotlines, Lesbian and Gay Support.
