Program/Service Notes:
Our primary goal is to provide comfortable, attractive, safe, well-maintained, and affordable apartments to students and staff members affiliated with the University. We offer 345 apartments to the University community. Of these, 240 are in North Village and 105 are in Lincoln Apartments.
UMass Amherst gives priority for Family Housing apartments to graduate and undergraduate students who have legal dependent children living with them. Disabled students are given priority for handicapped accessible apartments. Faculty and staff are eligible on a space-available basis.
Unless waived by the Family Housing Office in writing, residents must meet these qualifications:
-Only the resident affiliated with the University and, if applicable, the immediate family may live in the apartment. All adults must be on the lease.
-Undergraduate students must maintain at least twelve (12) credits per semester to remain. Graduate students must have at least nine (9) credits per semester or have paid the graduate program fee and have completed their coursework. A husband and wife may not add their credits together to meet these minimums.
-Staff employed full time (37.5 hours/week) or faculty may remain for a maximum of three (3) years. The time limit cannot be changed, even if another University-affiliated person moves in. If a family member joins the University staff or becomes a UMass Amherst student, the maximum rental period is still three years.
-Family Housing apartments must be vacated within thirty (30) days of graduation or withdrawal from or termination of affiliation with the University.
