Program/Service Notes:
-The Therapeutic Community: The Elizabeth Stone House is a residential mental health alternative for women. Provides advocacy and support to women experiencing emotional distress. Women in the Therapeutic Community talk to one another and share their experiences in a group setting; they discover that they are not to blame for their distress.
-Battered Women's Program: A component of the ESH is an 8-week shelter for battered women needing emergency services. The focus of this program is to provide women with a safe environment while they seek a violence free living alternative for themselves and their children.
-Transitional Housing Program: The ESH operates a 14-unit transitional housing apartment building in Roxbury. Transitional housing is available for up to 18 months for women and children leaving the five month residential program or the eight week battered women's program. The program operates with a self-help philosophy in a nearly independent living situation.
