Program/Service Notes:
The Spanish American Union's mission is to empower and educate to foster individual, community and institutional change. In the Circulos de Salud (health Circles), participants teach, learn, and explore ways of creative positive change in their personal, family and community life. They provide ongoing community networking and support, and social and cultural activities. - The Adolescent Family project provides advocacy and support for pregnant Latina teens and their families. - The reaching out to Latino/a Elderly Project provides training of peer advocate volunteers, with ongoing health education and prevention. - Women's health connections aid low income and uninsured Latina, African-American, AmerAsian/Vietnamese and Russian women in the areas of high risk pregnancy, breast cancer, and general women's health. - The multilingual Health Assistance Project provides community outreach and education to AmerAsian/Vietnamese women.
