A peer-run human rights group for mental health consumers and psychiatric survivors, those who have been labeled "mentally ill" and survived periods of intense emotional distress and trauma and as well as often surviving abuses in the psychiatric system. Demanding the dignity, empowerment, recovery, and compassion replace the "business as usual" of the mental health system. Five major areas of concern: peer support, advocacy, alternatives, public education, and activism. Provides weekly peer-support group; free weekly yoga classes; peer advocacy at meetings with doctors and other mental health professionals; public educational events. Sponsors Support Coalition International in the fight for human rights in the mental health system. Offers free weekly yoga classes and free acupuncture.
