YouthServe AmeriCorps members mentor at-risk youth through a variety of youth agencies in Western Massachusetts. YouthServe members are trained in Positive Youth Development Theory and use that theory to create positive opportunities for youth to be meaningfully involved in their communities. We implement programs that empower youth by building their skills and their confidence. We inspire youth achievement by modeling a professional, enthusiastic, and compassionate attitude toward community involvement. Night Owl Warming Center is a safe, warm and supervised space that meets the needs of homeless teenagers who are not eligible to stay in adult shelters. The Step Program provides homeless teens with shelter and support while the work toward educational, employment, and other life goals. Each participant, in conjunction with a youth worker, establishes a plan for transitioning into a stable, long-term living situation. YouthServe AmeriCorps members spend 10 months working with at-risk youth in Franklin/Hampshire county and the North Quabbin. Together they serve over 20,000 hrs of service to local youth. RISE is a community partnership to help students successfully learn, stay in school, and better prepare for life. The RISE program is located at the following middle schools Greenfield , Turners Falls and Athol-Royalston. ACT is the Community Service Center for Hampshire, Franklin and North Quabbin areas. Connecting volunteers to opportunities and enhancing volunteerism in the community.
