DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:
The Residential Education Alcohol Program (REAP), offers educational and counseling referral services to UMass students.
-Individual Assessment and Referral: conduct confidential drug/alcohol use assessment concluding with a recommendation, if necessary, for follow-up counseling/treatment. Students who are assessed to be crisis or who require detoxification can be immediately referred for treatment.
-Consultation: The REAP staff are available to Umass students, staff amd faculty to answer quetions and provide information about substance use.
-Group Educational Services: Groups are held on a weekly basis. Students may be referred via the judicial system at the university or through a mandated referral from he Northampton District Court and other district courts.
-Referral Services: When appropriat, the REAP staff will assist a student in finding on-going treatment for substance abuse problems or for other issues such as, depression, anger management, anxiety, eating disorders and learning disabilities. The REAP staff will also assist students seek substance-free housing in the Wellness Program or assist students in finding an appropriate support group.
-REAP Resources: Serves a campus-wide resource office providing health-related materials to students, staff and faculty. REAP makes available a large assortment of printed material (posters, pamphlets and bulletin board kits) on substance abuse and other topics such as, stress, smoking, steroids, relationship violence, STDs and adult children of alcoholics issues. The REAP library includes topical information on alcohol, marijuana, and most other drugs. REAP provides research consulation and term paper consults for both undergraduate and graduate students
