The Massachusetts Alliance of Samaritan Services (MASSaction) is a partnership of Samaritan Suicide Prevention Centers in the state. MASSaction is dedicated to establishing effective suicide prevention services for the Commonwealth and aims to promote public and professional awareness and understanding of self harm and suicide.
SERVICES/PROGRAMS:
-24-hour Crisis Lines
-SamariTEEN Lines where youth aged 16-18 provide support and befriending to peers
-Education For Life: a special project aimed at assisting school communities throughout Massachusets in developing effective suicide prevention strategies
-Community Education and Prevention Programs providing workshops, school presentations, and seminars on suicide awareness, how to help someone in crisis, emotional literacy, coping skills, etc.
-Consultation and Training: assisting organizations and institutions to develop effective suicide prevention strategies; training seminars for educators and human service agencies; and assisting with postvention in the aftermath of a suicide tragedy.
-Safe Place support groups for those touched by suicide
-Mental Health Screening and Education Program: helping identify and educate those suffering with depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol disorders and eating disorders.
-Information and Referral Services
-LifeLine Program helping to prevent suicide in prisons
-Participation in Regional Crisis Teams
-Outreach to schools, colleges, communities of faith, youth programs, elder centers, businesses and work sites.
