Program/Service Notes:
The Youth Programs provides free prevention and support services to low-income youth and young adults (ages 6 to 21) in the greater Franklin County/North Quabbin area. Activities are offered in schools and outreach sites throughout the county. Transportation is available for all activities. PROGRAMS: -Prevention Groups: Groups address issues such as communication skills, health issues, pregnancy prevention and violence. Groups are offered on an ongoing, open enrollment basis. -Adventure Programming: Outdoor activities such as rock climbing, camping and ropes courses offer young people the chance to develop problem-solving skills, cooperation, self-awareness and self-esteem. -Peer Leadership: The Youth Programs hires and trains young people to provide peer education and advocacy. Leadership groups address issues such as health, discrimination, and violence prevention. -Individual Support and Advocacy: Youth Counselors meet one-on-one with participants to provide extra support or crisis intervention. Referrals for individuals and families are also provided. -Enrichment and Youth Development Activities: Opportunities are given for socializing in safe, drug and violence-free surroundings. Enrichment activities give young people the chance to explore new ideas, cultures and environments
