Program/Service Notes:
Wayside Trauma Intervention Services (TIS) is a small component of 10 clinicians and advocates who provide trauma intervention services to a catchment area of approximately 30 towns. Wayside is a multi-service site, where outpatient and home-based services are provided allowing for coordination of treatment. Clients are referred by courts, schools, police departments, and DCF. TIS programs include are Domestic Violence, Rape Crisis, Homicide Bereavement, Civilian Advocacy. Services include individual, group, and family therapy, on-call rape crisis coverage to include hotline and medical advocacy at local hospitals, outreach to schools, DCF, and other human service providers. Clients are the survivors and/or the significant others and family members coping with these issues. Services are provided at the Milford site, in courts and police departments, and in schools. This site offers a diverse caseload of children, adolescents, adults, and families. Strength-based practices are emphasized. Because of the number of interns at this site, interns have excellent peer support as well as supervision and support from staff. Flexibility, willingness to accept a challenging and diverse caseload, and the ability to work well autonomously are all assets at this site. This program accepts first and second year graduate students.
