Services

We welcome your suggestions and feedback.

Our services are free, confidential, and available to all members of our community.

General

Information and Referral Services
We can connect you to valuable community resources. Whether you need a support group, health or legal referrals, or information on employment, if the service exists, we can connect you to it! You can call us or come visit the center and one of our trained staff members will assist you in locating the resources you need. Many of our resources are available online.

Counseling

Rape Crisis Services
We provide comprehensive support services to individuals of all gender expressions who are survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence (domestic violence), childhood sexual abuse and sexual harassment. Our services include legal and medical advocacy, individual counseling for survivors and significant others, support groups and a range of services specific to students in the five college community.

Counseling Services
We provide an alternative for women who may not necessarily define the issues they are dealing with as mental health issues, may not choose to seek services from a traditional mental health facility, or may prefer the anonymity of seeking services away from their own campus. Some women come to us because they feel their needs have not been met by services that focus on the health of the individual versus the health of the society in which we live. Many women seek our services because they trust that a women’s center will better understand their experience in the world in the context of sexism, racism, homophobia and other social justice issues.

Specialized Teen Services
We provide advocacy, short-term counseling, support groups and referrals to all teen (ages 12-19) survivors of sexual assault/abuse/harassment and dating/domestic violence. Services are also available to friends and family of survivors. Others who work with teens - teachers, counselors and social service providers - can consult with us regarding how to identify survivors and connect them with resources.

Education

Community Education
We offer training and education on sexual violence, relationship violence and related topics for the UMass campus and the local Hampshire County community. We provide youth-focused workshops in middle and high schools, professional and paraprofessional trainings for community organizations, and university focused trainings and workshops for faculty, staff and/or students. We also sponsor educational events both on and off-campus.

Teen Education Services
We offer education services addressing issues of sexual assault, sexual harassment, relationship violence, bullying, and hate crimes to area schools, after school programs, local teen organizations, and local agencies that serve adolescents. Workshops and trainings are provided for teenagers as well as teachers and staff who work with them. Trainings, workshops, discussions and educational events can be designed to meet the specific needs of any school or organization.

Specialized

Latina Community Services
We offer educational and advocacy services to the local Latino community in both Spanish and English. These services include workshops, community education and outreach campaigns relating to domestic violence and sexual assault. The Latina Advocate also offers counseling, support groups, and referrals to survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual abuse.
