Guest speaker: Janet Schmalfeldt, Professor of Music, Emerita, Tufts University

Topic: Beethoven's "Violation," his Cadenza for the First Movement of Mozart's D-Minor Piano Concerto.

Using formal, motivic, and dramatic content from the first movement of Mozart's concerto, Beethoven created a cadenza that is distinctly his own.
