“Autumn in the Heavenly Kingdom: China, the West and the Epic Story of the Taiping Civil War,” is a history of the Taiping rebellion by Stephen R. Platt, Associate Professor of History. Professor Platt's book was recently chosen as McGill University’s 2012 Cundill Prize winner. The Cundill Prize is one of the most prestigious awards for historical literature.
Professor Platt will present his findings in a lecture titled “Into the Storm: Some Windows into a Chinese Civil War." Members of the campus and wider community are cordially invited to attend the lecture and reception to follow.
