A group of 25 Iraqi students currently participating in a public policy exchange program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst will be hosting a dinner benefiting the Amherst Senior Center at the Amherst Pub.

The Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program, which is run through the Donahue Institute’s Civic Initiative and funded by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, provides six weeks of leadership training as well as cultural and educational opportunities to Iraqi undergraduate students.

This summer, UMass Amherst IYLEP participants visited the Amherst Senior Center and volunteered their time delivering food to elderly community members as part of the local Meals on Wheels food delivery program.

At the event, participants will present an overview of their experiences in the program as well as their lives in Iraq. There will also be music, art, food and other cultural exhibits, and guests will have the opportunity to meet and speak with the participants throughout the evening.

Food will be available for purchase from the regular Pub menu, and a suggested donation of $20 to the Amherst Senior Center will be accepted at the door.
