Exhibit: “Emergence: UMass Becomes UMass,” through January 6, 2014, Lower Level and Floor 25, Du Bois Library, UMass Amherst.  The third in a series of three exhibits to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the University of Massachusetts.

The exhibit centers on the post-World War II expansion of UMass and its emergence as a fully-fledged research university.  From the Freedom Bill of the 1950s through the years of rapid expansion to the present day, the exhibit examines the remarkable transformations of our campus and academic programs, the changes in the student body, the turbulent years of the 1960s through 1980s, the remarkable outpouring of creativity in the face of economic challenges, and the ongoing relevance of the university’s mission as a land grant institution.
