Come celebrate Earth Day with over 30 campus and community groups and activities throughout campus.

9 a.m. - 4 p.m. – The Earth Day Festival will take place on the Student Union North Lawn this year. The festival will feature over 30 student, faculty, staff, and community groups, who will be showcasing some of the amazing things they are doing to make our community more environmentally, economically, and socially just. In addition, the Farmer's Market will be joining us for the day under the Earth Day Tent! Come check out their awesome vendors and performers.

Other happenings:

8 a.m. - 10 a.m. – UMass Amherst 1st Annul Green Commute Day: In partnership with the Faculty Senate Health Committee and MassRIDES "Try it Day" campaign, UMass Amherst will be hosting the first ever Green Commute Day to encourage students, faculty, and staff to try an alternative to driving alone to campus on Friday, April 21 by either biking, walking, carpooling, or taking transit.  These methods reduce air pollution, save money, and create a better community and studies show that employees who opt for regular active commutes are more satisfied professionally and personally, and have reduced stress levels!  Release time for UMass employees may be available.  Commuters will be asked to log their green commute in the MassRIDES NuRides online tool that helps you find carpool matches and provides rewards for greener trips - and it’s FREE! MassRIDES will be signing UMass community members up for the green commute for three weeks leading up to Earth Day in the Campus Center Concourse.

2:00 p.m. Student performance art piece by "The Mourner"  A fictitious dystopian future where anthropogenic environmental This dystopian future is based on current trends in climate change, waste, pollution, and other factors presently posing a threat to our environment, communities, and health. A cautionary tale from the future. This performance will take place in front of the Earth Day tent on Friday, April 21.

Earth Day Vendor: Guayaki Yerba Mate will be providing free samples all day!
