Campus Sustainability Day is a time to recognize the successes, challenges, and innovation of sustainability in higher education on each campus. At UMass Amherst we will celebrate our recent commitment to the Real Food Challenge, make major announcements about sustainability on campus, and discuss ways that the UMass community can make our region more resilient and adaptable to a changing world.
3:30-5:00pm Building Sustainable Leaders: Green Jobs Panel (in Earthfoods Cafe):
In partnership with the UMass Amherst Career Center, the Campus Sustainability Initiative presents a green jobs panel of local and regional sustainability related employers, featuring UMass Amherst alumni in the green jobs industry as panelists. Keynote speaker: Kevin Doyle, Workforce leader for New England Clean Energy Council (NECEC) Institute. Full list of panelists coming soon!
5:00-6:00pm Learning Together: Student Sustainability Fair, Networking Event and Real Food Tasting (in Student Union Ballroom)
Sample a taste of Real Food, visit interactive student organization table displays, and network at your leisure over local snacks and beverages
6:00-6:10pm Special Performance by the Vocal Suspects (in Student Union Ballroom):
A special musical performance by the Vocal Suspects will kick off the main evening events
6:10-6:50pm Learning, Living and Leading at Sustainable UMass – Public Signing of the Real Food Challenge Campus Commitment (in Student Union Ballroom)
Chancellor Subbaswamy, Ken Toong, and members of the Student Food Advocates headline Campus Sustainability Day with a public signing and unveiling of our UMass food sustainability goals along with the Chancellor’s formal announcement of the new campus-wide sustainability brand and website
6:50-7:00pm Special Musical Performance by Minuteman Marching Band (in Student Union Ballroom):
A special performance from members of the Minuteman Marching Band will close the evening in celebration of the public signing and campus-wide sustainability brand and website launch
