Having your first book accepted and published can be a nerve-wracking experience.  This lecture is meant to serve as an introduction to academic publishing, with an emphasis on humanities book (or long form) publishing, and to demystify the path from first inquiry and proposal to printed books, and beyond.

The UMass Amherst Libraries host an exhibit, “Pioneers of Mass Aggie: Founders, Builders, and Innovators.”  “Pioneers” is the first of three exhibits to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the University of Massachusetts.

Learning Commons in W.E.B. Du Bois Library

The UMCA is pleased to announce an exhibition of work by the Los Angeles-based artist James Welling. This exhibition will focus on the photographer’s work in New England from 1970 to 2010.

The exhibit features fifteen 22”x24” images selected from VISUAL’s collection, each one captured during research at UMass Amherst.  Accompanying each image will be a description, in non-technical terms, that explains the science behind the picture.

Claudia Sperry has developed an aesthetic that combines the conscious and unconscious qualities of painterly expression, giving each painting a memory of its own, and a dynamic borrowed from her precursors, the alchemists.

Home Drone is a multifaceted exhibition that combines on-site installation, a public intervention act across the state of Massachusetts, a history of the U.S. Drone Program, and a time-line for the series of events that brought two artists from their home in Rochester, NY, to a onference in Pakistan and back.
