Alive With Dance Presents 'In Residence'
April 20—April 22, 2017 7:30 pm-9:30 pm
UMass Amherst Campus
Seniors Adan Alarcon, Brianna Anderson, Kiera Cecchini, Selina-Sam Clarke, Helen Duros, Rebecca Finell, Eric Flores, Mackenzie McClung, Melanie Ostiguy, Nichole Perkins and Amanda Somma present their senior thesis concert, In Residence.
With support from the Arts Council and faculty from the Music and Dance Department, 11 seniors produce a diverse program exploring a wide range of topics such as women in competition and defining one's perspective on art.
In Residence invites the audience to travel through a year's worth of research and discovery displayed through pre-performance artwork as well as a formal show. The lobby of Bowker Auditorium will be transformed into a home, and a bedroom classroom will feature a side musical performance by Lonny West before the show. Choreographers have used their personal experiences to create exclusive moments for the audience. In Residence challenges the performer and the audience to take a look in hindsight and the decisions we make in life. The choreography uses the framework that dance provides to create new ideas and images.
Alive With Dance is a Registered Student Organization (RSO) that creates administrative, production, fundraising and educational opportunities for a variety of students throughout the school year. Students from all Five Colleges have the opportunity to be a part of this production. In Residence showcases the family that the dance majors have become, and everything they have learned through their time at the university.
For reservations, contact the Fine Arts Center Box Office at 545-2511, or visit its website at fac.umass.edu. Additional tickets are available on the day of the performance at Bowker Auditorium.
