The Festival opens with Mariette Monpierre’s début feature filmed in Guadeloupe (BAFTA Choice Award, Pan-African Film Festival). A young Parisian woman of Caribbean descent returns to her native island in search of the father she has never known. The director (a Smith alumna, ’85) will be present for discussion and will speak at Smith on February 8. Co-sponsored by Smith College.
