This year’s Civil  Environmental History and Heritage Lecturer is Frederick A. Laskey. He will present a history of one of the world’s greatest water systems, recounting Boston’s continued march westward in search of new sources to meet its every-growing demand - from Jamaica Pond in the 1700s to the Quabbin Reservoir in the 1930s.

Since June of 2001, Laskey has served as executive director of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, which provides the wholesale water and sewer transport and treatment services for 2.5 million people in 61 communities in eastern and central Massachusetts.

The Lecture will be April 3, 2014 at 4:00 pm in the Cape Cod Lounge of the Student Union Center on the UMass Amherst Campus.  All are welcome to attend.
