Eligibility and Travel Stipends
Who can participate?
Graduate students from all subfields of anthropology are eligible to participate in the Field Program in European Studies. Honor's students and advanced undergraduates with a strong GPA are also eligible and many have participated and written honor's theses based on their research. We also welcome students from other disciplines who wish to engage in field research in Europe. In the past, we have had students from Organization Studies, History, and Comparative Literature.
All students are strongly encouraged to submit their research proposals for external funding. In addition, graduate students in the Department of Anthropology are eligible to apply for a travel stipend to help defray living expenses in Europe. The Department of Anthropology typically awards five stipends a year. Awards are approximately $3,500 for the semester and carry with them a tuition waiver. Students from other departments are not eligible for these stipends but we can assist you in seeking equivalent funding from your respective Departments and/or College.
