Fall 05

Ah, the rumors were true; the coffee table was back in business. It had probably been at least three years since the Coffee Table was last up and running. The English Society was able to purchase a coffee urn that brews 42 cups, and scrape together enough money for supplies. We started with coffee, then branched into Dunkin’ Donuts, and then slowly introduced new baked goods. However, we were short staffed. Most mornings it was usually just Adam Zinkievich and Greg Griffith (also the Coffee Table’s best customers). The only days that ended up working out were Monday and Wednesday 8:00 – 10:00 a.m., but it wasn’t really enough to get the word out there of our table’s existence. Supplies were also sparse and no one wanted to invest too much money if the sales didn’t increase. Eventually it got to the point that sales were so poor that it was worth sleeping more than making $6.00 in two hours. Although its unp! opularity could be partially blamed on a lack of campaigning, the failure was more do to a lack of product and variety, coupled with a lack of volunteering and schedule conflicts. Thus, Coffee Table was put on the shelf with hopes of trying once again in the spring semester.

Spring 06

Coffee table came back with changes where necessary. Although Greg went to Germany, Adam and his roommate Mike Blakie were able to bring the coffee table back on track. Mike took some risks in terms of buying new product and supplies, but in the end it was worth it. Coffee Table had a tablecloth, Chips, Little Debbie snacks, Donuts, Candy, Coffee, Coffee Flavoring, and the occasional Homemade Baked Goods (thanks to Adam’s mom and grandma). Eventually we got Matt Baskin and Melissa Gray to work the Coffee Table, allowing the hours to be Monday 8:00 – 11:00, Tuesday 8:30 – 11:00, Wednesday 8:00 – 12:00, and Thursday 8:30 - 11:00. The only reason the table was stopped was because we felt we had made enough profit for the English Society/Jabberwocky, with hopes of being even bigger and better in Fall '06.
